Here’s why Parchi will blow your minds!

So the Parchi teaser is out and hell yes, it did blow our mind, just as the makers had promised. We first got a tiny sneak peek into the feel of the film with the release of Janaan last year. The makers had dropped in a little tease at the end of the film and I remember the packed cinema house had erupted in applause.

No wonder then, that the first official teaser of Parchi has been so anxiously anticipated. The trailer is out and here are all the reasons that we are incredibly excited about this slick film from the makers of Janaan.

1. No saas bahu drama here:

When was the last time you watched a good Pakistani film without a sappy saas bahu story line? Not to say that those aren’t great to watch (we love them!) but every once in a while it is very exciting to see filmmakers treading unchartered territory and attempting new genres.

2. Hareem Farooq:

In addition to being one of the producers of the film, Hareem is also starring as one of the leads. And woah, her badass avatar has us in awe. There are very few actresses who have taken the kind of risks that she has with choosing roles, be it playing Osman Khalid Butt’s mother in Diyar e Dil (still can’t believe she pulled that one off with such panache) to a woman suffering from a mental disorder in Sanam, to her role as a single mother struggling with love in Dobara Phir Se. With Parchi, she is all set to add to this very impressive body of work and blow us away with yet another spot on portrayal.

3. The quartet of Imran Raza Kazmi, Hareem Farooq, Osman Khalid Butt and Azfar Jafri:

The last two films that the team worked on have been Siyaah and Janaan. While most would know Janaan, Siyaah is one of the most underrated horror films to have come out of Pakistan. Both films brilliant in their own respects and with genres that couldn’t be more different to each other. Parchi is their third venture and with their reputation for producing good cinema, it will definitely be worth a watch.

4. Ali Rehman Khan, Ahmed Ali Akbar and Usman Mukhtar:

First of all, what is it with these Islamabadi boys looking this good? No we aren’t objectifying them, but I mean really, what is up?

They also happen to be seriously talented actors, with all of them having proven their mettle over the years. Ali Rehman Khan has been on our TV screens for a while and has impressed us with performances on both the big and small screens – whether it has been Slackistan, Diyar-e-Dil or Janaan. Oh and not to forget Soul Search (go check it out on Youtube now, if you haven’t already). Ahmed Ali Akbar, has been a firm favourite, most recently winning over audiences with his portrayal of Zaki in Yeh Raha Dil, expertly showcasing a whole range of emotions. We are also looking forward to watching Usman Mukhtar on the silver screen, last seen in a supporting yet very memorable in Janaan.

5. Osman Khalid Butt’s choreography:

So we hear that Osman Khalid Butt, in addition to being an actor, writer and director is also a bit of a Mehndi Man. Confused? Let us explain. Osman, or Obi as he is called by his legions of fans, is also a fabulous dancer and has choreographed songs for Parchi. Given that the last time he did that with the Balu Mahi title track we all got to see some very fresh and interesting moves on the dance floor, we are keen to see what Parchi has in store for us.
