In a world of auto tune and electronic music, Sanjay Leela Bhansaali has managed to invoke another worldly charm, altogether. His debut album as a composer makes us wonder why he hasn’t let us into this window into his mind, before.
The tunes dance around in your head like the carefully choreographed circular dance sequences in his movies. The melodies weave their way into your mind, and they make their space there. With some of the best voices and lyricists that the industry has to offer, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has truly created a masterpiece.
The album begins its journey with the track Ghalib Hona Hai, and it tells great tales of the wonders that are about to follow. The two stand out tracks for us, that have been tugging at the strings of our hearts have been Gham Na Hona, featuring the iconic voice of Ustad Rashid Khan and Siva Tere, sung by the Madhubanti Bagchi, do nothing short of taking you into a trance.
We’re currently living through the time of fast, forgettable music. The lyrics of most songs don’t hold much weight and the song itself leaves your brain and meshes into the web of the tens of hundreds of songs that sound almost identical. To be able to come up with an entire album of songs that will take you on a journey of emotions, is nothing if not a feat.
So do yourselves a favour, this December, go for a really nice long drive, put on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s album, and truly feel Sukoon.
