It is being touted as a bit of a casting coup, with Next Level Entertainment securing Hamza Ali Abbasi, Sajal Aly and Kubra Khan to play the lead roles.

The drama will also mark the return of Haseeb Hasan to TV, the dynamic director behind hits like Mann Mayal and the upcoming film Parwaaz Hai Junoon.

Alif has been penned by Umera Ahmed, the acclaimed writer of Zindagi Gulzar Hai and Behadd amongst others, whose previous work has proven to be a massive hit with audiences.

 

 

Speaking to a leading daily, the drama’s producer, Samina Humayun Saeed said, “I am very happy to be producing a play written by Umera Ahmed as I have always loved her writing and wanted to do a project with her,” she said. “I’m very happy that I’m working on exactly the kind of project I wanted, now that we are collaborating with her. There’s no compromise on quality and the entire cast is the cream of the crop.”

Co-producer Sana Shahnawaz added that the concept of the show is rather deep and revolves around the questions we ask ourselves about life and the journey we take to discover it’s true meaning.

The shoot is planned to start in June with the drama expected to be aired starting September.
