As always, some of Pakistan’s top celebrities stepped on to the LUX Style Awards in their finest. We saw an interesting mix of Pakistani and international designers, especially on the leading ladies. Here’s a list of our favourites from the night and also some which left us a bit blah!
Sajal Aly:
We LOVE an eastern jora done right and everything about Sajal’s look was absolutely spot on. The fine gold embroidery on the white, balanced with the beautiful accessories. Feminine, with a bit of drama.
Ainy Jaffri:
Well, if there is a red carpet classic that we don’t see enough of in Pakistan, it has to be the black dress. Ainy Jaffri was styled to perfection in a Choueiter ensemble that made her look every inch an international movie star.
Uzma Hassan:
Uzma was a vision of grace as she walked the red carpet in a mustard yellow / gold saree.
Sanam Saeed:
Sanam Saeed in this pink Rami Al Ali gown gave off a modern day princess vibe and we loved it.
Ayesha Omar:
We much preferred Ayesha’s green Kristina Fidelskaya number to the gold gown that she had on earlier.
Mawra Hocane:
Mawra Hocane in a multicoloured Manish Malhotra might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but we definitely liked how ‘hatke’ the embellishments on the dress were. Mawra kept the rest of her look aptly simple with the tied hair. We only wish she had gone without the drape.
Sadaf Kanwal:
Sadaf Kanwal was giving us the supermodel vibes in this blue Zaheer Abbas gown that allowed her to show off her perfectly toned limbs!
Mahira Khan:
Mahira is someone whose red carpet appearances we always look forward to because she surely knows how to turn up the heat. This year, however, we were left a little unimpressed. While her Faraz Manan outfit was beautiful, it made Mahira’s overall look bland – not an adjective we like to associate with Pakistan’s sweetheart.
Aima Baig:
There was something about the whole outfit that just didn’t sit well with us. We were definitely hoping to see a younger, more fun look from the singer who has taken the industry by storm with her singing talent.
Meera Ji:
Meera ji is a Lollywood legend but has never really been a red carpet favourite. We wish she had opted for a simpler outfit because there is just too much going on with this one.
Amna Baber:
Animal print, a cape and some feathers – some things in life should just not be mixed.
Aamina Sheikh:
While we liked the Cake star’s dress, it was her hair that let the whole look down. Why would her hair stylist cover half of her stunning face.
